Drink Lots of Water
Drinking plenty of water is one of the very best simple tips to achieving glowing skin. While science may not agree on the phrasing, drinking around 8 glasses of water a day can help remove toxins from your body. Drinking water will do wonders for your overall health and will help your skin glow. Just make sure not to overdo it.
Cut down on the Caffeine
Coffee may be essential for those early starts, but it’s not doing your skin any favors. For some people, caffeine can be a wonder drug and help your skin. In general, limit your caffeine intake and try to improve your overall health.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
Your body repairs itself while you sleep, and your skin is no exception. Whether you’re trying to cut down on aches or just get your skin glowing, try and get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. After all, no one likes dark circles.
Eat Some Fruit and Veg
Yes, most of us love greasy, oily food, but it's not helping your skin. Eat everything in moderation, but try and incorporate some fresh fruit and veg into your diet. It can be pricey, but it’ll help your overall health.
Keep Your Stress in Check
We don’t realise what a huge toll stress takes on your body, physically and mentally. After all, we all break out when stressed! It can be hard when life gets overwhelming, so try and keep that stress in check. Take some time for yourself, go on walks or maybe try yoga. Even find someone to talk too.
Get Some Fresh Air
Smoky or polluted environments are awful for your skin. Even if you don’t smoke, the release of free radicals can damage your skin just by being in the area. Try and avoid smoking areas (and smoking!), use a fan while cooking, change your air filter regularly and get some fresh, clean air outdoors.
Watch Sun Exposure
Sunlight contains UV light, even on overcast days. UV rays can even penetrate windows! Luckily, a lot of foundations these days have UV protection included, but be sure to use SPF when going outdoors. Excess sunlight can cause wrinkling and brown spots. Remember; everything in moderation. Use sunglasses and avoid tanning beds!
Find a Cleanser That’s Right for You
We all have different skin types; oily, dry, sensitive or totally normal. Perhaps a beauty counter at a local mall can give you some advice. Try a few and see what best suits your skin. After all, if you have dry skin you’ll need moisturising that can replace moisture, but not so much if you have oily skin.
Remove That Makeup!
A lot of us are guilty of this, but leaving makeup on for long periods of time or overnight is terrible for your skin. Your skin needs to relax and breathe, and whether you like it or not, makeup is NOT good for your skin. Take it off when you come home and when you sleep. Let your skin get some rest!
It’s easy to feel down when a pimple the size of Mount Everest erupts on your skin. You need to remember that it’s only temporary. Chances are, your skin will clear, and worst case, bad skin doesn’t determine who you are. The most powerful thing you can do is love yourself. Keep yourself happy and healthy.
