1. Get a Fancy Facial

Skin care resolutions don’t have to be boring and tedious; they can be fun and relaxing! I’m resolving to get a few quality facials next year because there isn’t a better way to get a deep cleaning, exfoliation and hydration without any effort on my part! Facials also help stimulate your skin and keep it in tip top shape so your skin care products are more effective and your beauty products go on much more smooth!

2. Create a Routine and Stick with It

When it comes to caring for your skin, you want to create a routine you can stick to. What’s the point in spasmodic skin care? Just as your skin is getting used to a certain product or treatment we go and change the routine! I’m resolving to create a simple daily routine so I have no choice but to stick with it! Once I simplify my daily skin care routine, keeping up with exfoliating and using special treatments should be much easier to keep track of!

Frequently asked questions

3. Stop Buying Trendy Products

One of my top skin care resolutions is to stop making impulse skin care purchases! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been suckered into buying skin care products that promise me the world and I’m left with nothing but an empty wallet! I’m resolving to do some research on skin care products and return policies before I go nuts investing my money on fad products. We can easily access reviews and information on products from our cell phone so I have no excuse!

4. Only Buy What I Can Use

In addition to only buying quality skin care products, I’m committing to only buying skin care products that I need. At one point I had 5 exfoliators, 6 moisturizers, 6 cleansers and countless samples of eye creams and serums that I hardly used! Skin care products aren’t good forever so I decided to cut back on buying products just for the sake of buying them or because they’re on sale.

5. Clean and Replace Tools Regularly

A big part of caring for your skin involves tools so I’m resolving to clean and replace my tools on a regular basis. I don’t know about you but I can easily forget or be too busy to wash or swap my makeup brushes, face cleaning brush or loofah on a regular basis. We can undo all of our hard work taking good care of our skin if we’re using dirty or worn-out tools so this is a biggie when it comes to the health and upkeep of our skin!

6. Keep It Clean

I think most of us are pretty good about washing off our makeup before heading to bed but we need to be just as mindful after we engage in a sweat session! The ugly truth is that when we work up a good sweat and don’t shower off soon after, we’re leaving our skin susceptible to acne. Livestrong.com states that sweat that dries on our skin after a workout allows bacteria to thrive and can result in breakouts. Wear moisture-wick clothing and hit the showers as soon as you get home to prevent acne!

7. Take It Easy on Hands

I know I’m guilty of putting my hands and nails through a lot during the year but next year will be different! Stop using nails as tools and keep your hands protected when you do household chores or are out in hot or cold weather by wearing gloves and using sunscreen. Experts will say that our hands show our age most so if we want to keep people guessing, we’ve got to take hand care seriously!

8. Hands off

Another skin care resolution that I’m pledging to keep is to keep my hands away from my face and hair! There’s nothing worse than meticulously caring for your facial skin only to contaminate it with dirty hands! The same goes for hair, as much as I love a good hair twirling, we can easily transfer dirt or oils to our tresses. Keep your hands busy with a stress ball or anything to keep hands away!

9. Moisturize Habitually

There are some skin care lessons I’ve had to learn the hard way. For example, I learned not to wax the same place repeatedly with an at-home wax kit or shave with a dull razor. Aside from those lessons, I’m going to make it habit to moisturize regularly at key times like right after I get out the shower while my skin is still damp. I’m also going to make it a point to moisturize my feet so that I’m not stuck trying to undo months of neglect a week before sandal season!

10. Be Generous with Sunscreen

We’ve all heard about the importance of sunscreen in our skin care routine a million times but I’m not always consistent with it. I’m resolving to apply sunscreen to my face, neck, chest, hands and any other place that happens to be exposed on the regular. I’m pretty good about applying sunscreen on my face but my chest and hands are usually left vulnerable to the ravages of the sun. Learn from my mistakes and protect yourself!

These simple skin care resolutions are easy ways to make a big impact on the condition of your skin! Start incorporating these small changes and you’re sure to see the results of your hard work and consistency in your appearance! Have you ever made any skin care resolutions? What are you resolving to do differently with your skin next year?
