The Trick to Using Tinted Moisturizer for a Natural Summer Glow ...

By Eliza

Tinted moisturizer is a total miracle. It allows you to get an all-over lovely glow without the dangers that come with unprotected sun exposure and tanning booths. The product works by gently darkening your skin so that you get that summertime color you crave without a ton of work. This isn’t anything like fake tanners so you won’t have to worry about mistakes or orange streaks either. Give it a try – I think you’ll find it pretty miraculous!

Apply Your Heavier, Thicker Moisturizers at Night

Don’t waste the tinted product when all you’ll be doing is sleeping. Instead, use a good quality facial cream before you hit the sack. This will help fight fine lines and wrinkles while also providing the ultimate in hydration. Then, go ahead and apply your tinted product in the morning when you’re getting ready for the day. This way you benefit from both products and don’t have to sacrifice anywhere.

2

Cleanse Your Face before Applying Tinted Products

You want to start with a totally clean slate here because this will prevent the tinted moisturizer from being applied in a funky way, which could mean uneven color on your face. Use your regular cleanser and suds up just prior to rubbing in your moisturizer.

UPD:

Make sure to thoroughly rinse away all traces of your cleanser to avoid any residue that might interfere with the moisturizer's absorption. Gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel — never rub, as this can irritate your skin and cause redness. Now, with your face prepped and primed, your skin is ready to soak up the hydrating benefits and seamless coverage of your favorite tinted moisturizer, giving you that coveted sun-kissed radiance without stepping foot in the sun.

3

Choose a Tinted Moisturizer That’s One Shade Darker than Your Neck

You don’t want to pick a color that will be obviously darker than the rest of your body. Instead, you want one that will blend in with your skin, giving you a lovely glow without anyone being able to tell you’re faking it. As your skin naturally darkens during the summer, gradually go darker with your moisturizer too.

4

Use Your Fingers to Apply

Experts say that rubbing in your tinted moisturizer with your fingers is more effective at ensuring that you get an even application. Your fingers also tend to be gentler on your delicate facial skin than make-up wedges or cotton pads so you can protect it while also looking radiant. What more could a girl ask for?

5

Apply the Product from the Center Outward

Start by dabbing your tinted moisturizer on the center of your face, then go ahead and use your fingers to blend it outward toward your jaw and hairline. This makes it easy to be sure you’re getting an even amount on both sides of your face so you don’t wind up looking unbalanced. It’s also way easier than blending from the out toward the inside of your face.

Make Sure You Choose a Tinted Moisturizer That is Designed for Your Skin Type

Just as if you were choosing a traditional moisturizer (or any skincare product, for that matter), it’s important to be sure the one you buy is formulated for your skin type, whether that’s dry, oily or normal. A quick read of the package should tell you which one is best for you.

Don’t Set the Moisturizer with Powder

Not only can this mess with the color you’re trying to get, but the powder can also make you look too finished. The point of a tinted moisturizer to give you that “undone” summertime look that is so radiant and beautiful. It might be hard to resist the powder, but I think you’ll really like the way it looks.

Do you use tinted moisturizer? What other tips do you have to share?

I love them but it turned my beautiful white underwear a mucky shade of brown 😣

I use a simple and cheap but effective oil free one called clearskin light, this doesn't give a shiny look at all and does not clog pores. I also do not need to finish with a powder as it looks naturally matte anyway.

I use an Estée Lauder one,SPF 15 whenever I am going outdoors for a while. I have to use an all in one powder on top of it as I just don't like the shiny look . As I am in my 70's the tinted moisturiser just makes me look sweaty as if I have been running hard.

I do agree, tinted moisturizers are a great invention!!

I like them but arent they technically almost like foundation?

@Chocolatelovee tinted moisturizers arent aus heavy as a foundation. So ist Perfect in summer when you just Want a light and little coverage. Ist Kind of like bb cream;)
