8 Tips to Give Yourself a Spa-quality Facial at Home ...

If you’re planning on giving yourself a facial at home, I’ve got some nifty tips for making it as zen-like as possible and just as high-quality as you’d get at a fancy spa! Facials are a terrific way to relax, pamper yourself and give your skin the royal treatment. And while going to a trendy day spa is nice, who can afford those high prices on a regular basis?! Pencil yourself in for an at-home spa day and give yourself an awesome facial at home!

1

Gather Your Spa Items

If you want to give yourself a top-notch facial at home, the first thing you want to do is prepare. Get all your beauty products and spa items to help create a serene environment so you won’t be caught without a must-have item during your “me” time. Put together some relaxing music, a robe, candles, aromatherapy oils, a headband, a mask or ingredients for homemade mask (check AWS for mask recipes), skin care products and water infused with cucumbers or fruits.

2

Set the Mood

The next step in prepping for your spa facial at-home spa day is to set the mood. Create a tranquil scene by lighting candles or an aromatherapy burner, adjusting the lighting and the temperature so you’ll be super comfortable. Don your robe and headband and maybe even spray your linens with an aromatic spray to really set the mood and create a spa-like feeling!

3

Wash up

Before you get started on your DIY facial, let’s start with exfoliating your face or washing your face if you have makeup on so you have a clean canvas to give yourself a nice facial. Use a mild cleanser to wash away all traces of makeup or dirt. If your face is clean, make your own scrub by mixing sugar and olive oil and gently scrubbing away dead skin cells. Now your skin is super clean and ready to soak in all the good stuff!

4

Steam Things up

The next step in your at-home spa is to steam your face. Since we don’t have those elaborate steamers that spas have, we can make our own steam treatment with essential oils. Boil about 3 cups of water and transfer it to a large bowl. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the water. Then, create a steam tent by placing a towel over your head and enjoy the steam treatment for about 10 minutes!

5

Apply the Mask

Now you want to gently towel off any excess moisture from the steam treatment. Then it’s time to apply your favorite mask or use the DIY facial that you previously made! You can always use your fingers to apply the mask but I recommend making it a little more professional by using a makeup brush. It’s all about the special little touches, right? Lie down or lounge in a comfy chair and relax!

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

The Eyes Have It

If you want to give your eyes a special treatment while you’re enjoying your DIY facial, place some cucumbers, cooled tea bags or a gel eye mask over your closed eyes. There’s no reason why your eyes can’t take part in the spa treatment, too! Sip your special spa water or whatever your favorite drink is and take in all the relaxing scents and sensations!

7

Rinse off

Now that your facial mask has really set in, it’s time to rinse it all off and reveal your refreshed and revived skin! You can use a warm, damp towel to gently remove the mask or simply rinse it off with warm water in the sink. Make sure you gently rub off the mask with warm water, you don’t want to irritate your skin by scrubbing too vigorously or using piping hot water!

8

Moisturize

The last step in your at-home spa facial is to moisturize your skin. The final steps to the DIY facial are just as important as the facial itself! Apply a toner to help hydrate and tone your skin. Next, follow up with a serum of your choice and apply some eye cream. Finally, finish off with a hydrating moisturizer and apply it using small, circular motions. How relaxed are you?!

Giving yourself a quality at-home spa facial is totally doable! You don’t need tons of money or high end items in order to create a peaceful and relaxing spa day for yourself. Your skin will surely appreciate the attention, plus it’s always nice to pamper yourself! Have you ever had an at-home spa day? Do you have any pointers for doing facials?

I will definitely use this! My mom and grandma loooove to have this done but we live where there is no spa. And I love to give them spa days. So this will be helpful!

Thanks a lot.
