So while you may have just turned 20, it’s not too early to look at your skin and preparing it for a lifetime of radiance and beauty. And I can help get you started! Don’t Smoke!

Really, I had no idea how bad smoking could be for your skin until my dermatologist set me straight. It robs your skin of vital moisture and nutrients, adding years to the look and feel of your skin. Do you really need another reason to quit?

Avoid the Sun

It’s truly this simple: a lifetime of exposure to the sun can kill you, and it will definitely add wrinkles, sun spots, and a truly terrible leather-like texture to your skin. If you’re serious about skin care in your 20s, you’ll avoid the sun without sunscreen or sunblock, despite what your friends decide to do. Then, when you’re 40, and still look 30, while they look 50, you’ll be so glad you did!

Moisturize!

Most of us start to lose moisture in our skin in our 20s, so it’s important to start trying to find a moisturizer that works for you. If possible, find one with a built-in SPF protection, to take care of that each morning. Drinks Lots of Water

Again, since your skin may start losing moisture now that you’re in your 20s, it’s important to stay hydrated. Truly, it’s important to stay hydrated anyway, but who wants skin that looks like it’s thirsty, even when it’s not?

Get Plenty of Sleep

I know, I know! It’s hard to resist weekend after weekend of late-night parties, but your part of skin care in your 20s means getting your beauty sleep. Getting your 8 hours will keep puffy, tired eyes at bay, giving you a youthful, glowing appearance. I’m not saying to stop partying… just make sure you’re not too hard on your skin!

Pamper Yourself

While you may not have understood the allure of a spa facial (or even a home facial) in your teens, now that you’re in your 20s, I recommend getting acquainted. There’s nothing quite like a professional skin care treatment at any age… start now, sweetie, and set that habit!

Be on the Lookout

Years of sun damage may start to take their toll now, in your 20s, and yes, even you, at this young age, can develop skin cancer! Educate yourself on what to look for, and if you see or feel anything suspicious, get it checked out by your dermatologist or family doctor right away! Most skin cancers are treatable and curable if caught early enough, so be on the lookout starting now!
