1. Baking Soda

One of the best natural remedies for acne scars is something that most people have in their pantry. Baking soda helps to fade scars, and will not irritate sensitive skin. You can mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 tablespoon of water, and spread it over your scars. Leave it on overnight, and rinse off in the morning. It’s an anti-inflammatory, so it will reduce the redness of the marks, and it will gently scrape off the scar tissue over time.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera will soothe irritated skin and regenerate damaged tissue. Plus, you can grow the plant yourself to save some money and have a constant supply. Dozens of aloe vera plants grew in my parent’s backyard, and occasional rain water was enough to sustain them. Whenever I needed their soothing properties, I just went outside and broke off a small piece. If growing aloe isn’t feasible for you, you can usually find some at the grocery store or drug store.

3. Tomatoes

You can apply tomato juice or tomato slices to your skin. Either will work. Tomatoes contain properties that encourage skin health and other nutrients that reduce scar formation. One popular method is to mash a tomato into a pulp, and leave it on your face for 15 to 20 minutes. Tomatoes are acidic so they can dry out your skin if you aren't careful, so use with caution.

4. Coconut Oil

You know what they say. Apply coconut oil to anything you want to improve. It’s great for your teeth and hair and it turns out it’s great for acne scars as well! Rub a little between between clean hands to liquify the oil. Massage it into your skin, and leave it on for ten minutes. Then, rinse your face and pat dry.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric adds great taste to curries, but today we’ll be putting it on our face instead of in our face. This spice contains curcumin, which replaces dull, damaged skin with healthy, glowing skin! You can mix it with aloe vera, coconut oil, or honey to form a paste. Leave it on your skin for about 15 minutes. Then massage it in circular motions to exfoliate your skin. Rinse it off and pat dry.

6. Cucumber

This nutrient packed veggie contains silica, which replenishes your skin. It also has vitamin E, which fights scar tissue! Using cucumber on your scars couldn’t be easier. Simply slice it up, and place it on your skin for 20 minutes. After you take it off, rinse your face with warm water and then cold water.

7. Oatmeal

You probably already have some in your pantry, right? If not, you can buy some for only a couple dollars at any grocery store. Oatmeal is a gentle exfoliant, and soothes reddened and irritated skin. It also contains B vitamins that help your skin regenerate. You can cook some oatmeal and add a little bit of milk. Rub it onto your face like a face mask, and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Oatmeal is gentle enough that you can apply it every day!

8. Ice

This is by far the cheapest remedy on this whole list! Ice will tighten your skin and reduce your pores, which will work wonders on surface scars. It is not as effective with deep scars, however. Wrap some ice cubes in a washcloth, and gently massage the affected areas for 10 minutes. Do this every day, and you should start to see results within a week.

9. Banana Peels

Bananas contain natural enzymes that will hydrate your skin, heal scars, and even prevent future breakouts. The next time you eat a banana, save the peel! Rub the peel on your face for a few minutes, until the inside starts to turn brown. Then, leave the peel on your face for 20 minutes. Take it off, and rinse your face with lukewarm water.

10. Honey

Honey is a natural moisturizer and keeps your skin looking soft, supple, and glowy. Cleopatra’s dazzling skin has often been attributed to her milk and honey skincare routine. Follow in her footsteps by mixing a little bit of milk and honey together and apply it to your face. Leave it on for five minutes, then rinse. Your skin will feel so great!
