7 Lifesaving Tips for Girls with Super Dry Skin ...
By Eliza • Oct 15, 2020

Picture this scenario: I went through a phase in high school when my eyelids were so dry that no amount of make-up would cover up the issue. Yet, I still layered on my favorite purple shade every morning. Turns out, it was the dye in the eyeshadow that was to blame. Once I made the switch to another color, the issue cleared up. Do you have dry skin on your face? Here are some make-up tips that will save your life and leave you looking as beautiful as you are.

1. Start Exfoliating to Get Rid of Dry, Flaky Skin

If your dry skin is resulting in flakes, you need to exfoliate right now. A good exfoliation will help slough off that excess skin as well as any dead skin cells, dirt, debris and leftover make-up, giving you a fresh slate for applying make-up to. Ideally, you should be exfoliating once a week, according to skincare experts.

2. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Most of the make-up artists I consulted say that moisturizing is the single best way to get rid of dry skin so that your cosmetics go on smooth and clean every time. Choose a moisturizer that is designed for your skin type and make sure to apply it morning and night. You should use one with sunscreen for daytime and an anti-aging one while you sleep.

3. Apply Your Foundation with a Damp Sponge

Make-up artists say that swiping on your foundation with a damp sponge gives you a more flawless finish, helping to hydrate dry skin while also masking it at the same time. You don’t want your sponge to be soaked or it will leave you with streaky foundation. Instead, wet the sponge just a bit and then press it into your skin instead of swiping it.

4. Wear a Hydrating Lip Balm if You Have Dry Lips

If you’ve ever tried to wear lipstick on dry, flaky lips, you know how uncomfortable and weird it is. Experts say that you must wear a hydrating lip balm on a regular basis to keep your lips hydrated and full of moisture so they stay smooth and fresh. Wear lip balm under your lipstick to keep your kisser hydrated at all times.

5. Use Creamy Eyeshadow and Blush Products

Creamy make-up products naturally add more moisture to your skin while also covering up dryness. These creamy formulations give you a dewy, glowing complexion, which helps mask dry and dull skin. You should still take steps to hydrate your skin, but you can use creamy eyeshadows and blushes to disguise it in the meantime.

6. Opt for Liquid Eyeliner over Pencils or Powders

Why? Because the liquid eyeliner glides smoothly over dry, rough skin, helping cover it up. On the other hand, eyeliner pencils or powders settle into cracks and makes the issue more obvious. Use a light hand so you don’t get too much, but use just enough to keep your dry skin under wraps.

7. Drink More Water All Day Long

Make-up experts strongly encourage ladies with dry skin to drink more water on a daily basis. It helps hydrate your entire body, but especially your facial skin so that you can alleviate dryness. This isn’t an instant fix like some of these other ideas, but over the course of a couple of weeks, boosting your fluid intake will help control dry skin on your face so your make-up always goes on flawless.

Your moisturizer could have ingredients that may be drying your skin out, causing your skin to produce more oil. You could also have dehydrated skin. Make sure your moisturizer is meant for dry skin and check the ingredient list for anything drying (example: alcohol)

If your skin is dry opt out harsh physical exfoliation for chemical exfoliation using a BHA/AHA product. Korean skincare is a hundred times better than American skincare

I tried so many moisturizers and even managed to rub Vaseline on my face and try to go to sleep with that but that didn't work. I started putting coconut oil my face, and it the flakiness started to clear up from my eyelids and slowly from the rest of my face. I started using as make up cream over, lip moisturizer. WHAT DOENST IT FIX? It literally is and will always be my life saver. If u have dehydrated skin, this is the thing
