Your skin is something like a message board and there are times where we’ll want to figure out what our skin is telling us. Our skin is our largest organ so if something isn’t quite right on the inside, there’s a good chance that it’s going to show through our skin. Dull Skin

If you experience dry and dull skin, a good possibility of what your skin is telling you is that it isn’t getting enough omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are responsible for doing all sorts of great things for our bodies but it also serves to strengthen and regulate cell membrane turnover, which helps skin stay hydrated and glowing!

Easy Bruising

Do you easily bruise or does your skin take longer to heal wounds? If you answered yes to either of these questions, your skin is trying to tell you something and one possibility is that your bod is lacking vitamin C. There are other symptoms of vitamin C deficiency like dry skin and hair, weight loss and fatigue, but don’t be so quick to self-diagnose. If you suspect that you could be deficient in a certain vitamin, talk to your doctor first!

If you have acne, this could be due to a number of different reasons including imbalances in the body. Just like some of the other telltale clues of what your skin is telling you, puffy eyes can be a result of stress, long nights or it could be caused by a lack of circulation and blockage in the lymphatic flow. Our lymph system filters out waste and is vital to our immune system so it’s essential to keep these channels flowing. You can help your lymph system out by exercising regularly, eating a healthy diet or giving your face a nice lymph draining face massage!

The next skin sign to look out for is blotchiness or broken capillaries. If you notice either of these two skin signs on your cheeks, it can due to alcohol, temperature extremes or even spicy food! According to skin care expert Rona Berg, the best way to take care of these menaces is to be proactive and include anti-inflammatory oils in your diet like flaxseed and walnut oil and moisturize your skin regularly!

Tight Skin

If you ever get the feeling that your skin is tight and a little rough in texture, your skin is trying to tell you something...it’s dehydrated! Dehydrated skin will feel tight and itchy and can appear shriveled or flaky; it can cause chapped lips too. If you experience these symptoms, limit the time you spend in the shower or bath and keep the water lukewarm. Don’t forget to moisturize often and see your doctor if your skin is extremely dry and flaky.

Another common skin problem we come across is brittle nails. Our nails aren’t exactly skin, but they’re made of keratin, which is the same material our bodies use to create the top layer of our skin, so we’re keeping it in the family. If you have brittle nails, it can be a sign of poor nutrition from severe dieting or a mild biotin deficiency, eating a healthy diet is an easy way to take care of this skin issue!

If you have dry patches of skin around your mouth, it’s possible that what your skin is telling you is that you could have a type of dermatitis or an infection. Factors that can aggravate this condition are frequently licking your lips, the weather or even the type of toothpaste you use. These skin signs don’t automatically mean that there is something serious going on, it could just need a quick fix but the main message is to listen or take a look at what’s going on and don’t just ignore it!
