Honey

Honey is one of the top ingredients in DIY facial masks but it also plays a major role in DIY blemish remedies. We tend to think of honey as a moisturizer but it also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that will help bust out those blemishes! Simply grab some unprocessed honey and dab a pea-sized amount on the affected area and leave on for about 15 minutes and rinse off!

2

Vinegar and Water

An at-home acne treatment that helps to balance the pH levels in your skin, reduce redness and inflammation of acne is a simple mix of vinegar and water! Mix equal parts of purified water and vinegar (you can white or apple cider vinegar), dab a cotton ball in the mixture, apply to the blemish and rinse after 10 minutes.

3

Tea Tree Oil Mask

Another way to treat acne is to create your own facial mask. Spot treating is good too, but sometimes you just want to treat your whole face to a nice soothing mask! For this mask you’ll need some tea tree oil which you can find at health food stores or drug stores and good ‘ol honey! Mix 1 tsp. of honey with 2 drops of tea tree oil and apply it your face. Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.

4

Garlic

Yep, we’re still talking about DIY blemish remedies and not how to get rid of vampires! Garlic is a fabulous antiseptic and antibacterial agent so it’s great for fighting acne. Grab a clove of garlic, smash it with a knife and mix it with a ½ cup of lukewarm water. Apply this mixture to your face and rinse off after 5 minutes. Garlic can burn your skin if you leave it on for too long or if you apply it directly on to your skin so be careful when using garlic.

5

Aloe

A great DIY blemish remedy that is all-natural and helps decrease redness and swelling of acne is aloe. Get an aloe plant or go to the drug or health food store and look for 100% aloe vera, it usually comes in a gel form. It’s always better to get aloe vera straight from the source but the store-bought gel or cream type is OK too. You can scoop out some of the aloe from the plant or apply to the gel on your entire face and use it as an overnight mask or use it to spot treat. Using aloe vera gel topically is also known to fade acne scars also!

Sea Salt

You normally wouldn’t think of salt when you think of DIY blemish remedies but it really works! Anything salty sounds like it would irritate you skin but there are lots of testimonials about the wonders of sea salt! Heat up a cup of distilled water enough to warm it up, add 1 tbsp. of sea salt and stir until it dissolves. Then, soak a washcloth in the solution and apply it to your face for about 5 minutes minimum or soak a cotton ball and spot treat. Salt can dry out your skin so make sure you follow up with a good moisturizer!

7

Honey and Cinnamon

Honey is in another at-home acne treatment recipe! Honey really is great for your skin so it’s no wonder it keeps showing up on this list. Cinnamon is pretty awesome too, it can help bring nutrients to the skin’s surface and help dry skin. Grab 2 tbsp. of honey and 1 tsp. of cinnamon powder and make a paste. You can use this to spot treat or apply it all over your face as a mask and rinse off after 20 minutes. Cinnamon can irritate your skin if you use it too often so limit this treatment to once a week!

These DIY blemish remedies can all be made in a flash and you don’t have to run out to the store to get any of the ingredients! As with anything you use on your skin, you’ll probably want to test it out on a small patch of skin before applying it on your face just in case. I hope these remedies work out well for you! Have you ever tried a DIY blemish treatment before?

Should I put the vinegar on my spot after it is popped or before?

During summer break I had no pimples no blemish ( I never got any acne ) but now I have like these small pimples on my nose and a bit on my cheeks, and my forehead is practically filled with them! They are red, and they\'re so annoying!! Help !! Please!!

Should you wash your face again after usin the honey mask??

The last time I used cinnamom onto my face I was left with a puffy and really red skin. ^^' (and I only kept the mask for 5 minutes. If I put some in the scrub it's ok, but looks like using it as a mask is really too much..) I'm sure it works for some types of skin, but it was not a nice experience for me...so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. ^^'
