A lot of us underestimate the healing power of drinking plenty of water. Guest contributor Aiden shares his insight on how water can improve the health of your skin drastically!
Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It protects you, stores lipids and water, prevents fluid loss, acts as thermoregulation and has many more functions. Believe it or not, you skin also respires to some extent which is still very less when compared to the total respiration of your lungs. Your skin is also responsible to make you look the way you do. There are a bazillion skin care products out there, which promise to make your skin look flawless, younger, clearer and brighter. Taking care of your skin is not only about buying all these skin care products with hard to pronounce French and Italian names. It is also about taking care of it the natural way. One of the simplest and most effective ways to take care of your skin is by drinking enough water every single day. Here are 7 reasons why one needs to drink water to brighten their skin and keep it healthy.

1. Sagging Skin
Sagging skin could be a cause of rapid shedding of fat. A lot of people with saggy skin tighten their skin with «water fasting» (consuming only water). Of course that is extremely unhealthy. Instead, you can slowly but steadily tighten your skin by consuming ample water day-in and day-out.

2. PH Balance
It is essential to maintain a good pH balance in your skin. pH of any substance will range from 0 to 14. With 14 being most alkaline and 0 being highly acidic. A pH value of 7 is considered neutral which is the exact pH value of pure water. This is the main reason you need to wash your skin thoroughly after using soap or face wash with water to maintain the right pH.

6. Moisturize
You should not only drink a lot of water, but also clean your skin with it thoroughly. You may think it is not necessary to take a bath every single day, especially during the winter months. But it is highly necessary to cleanse your body with water to unclog your pores and keep your skin moist and supple.

7. Skin Elasticity
The lack of elasticity in your skin is a common symptom of dehydration. Gently pinch your skin and see if it bounces back. If it doesn’t, you should probably drink more water to replenish and plump up the cells.
This brings us to one of the most debated questions of the decade. How many glasses of water do you have to drink everyday to keep your skin healthy? It actually depends upon your height, weight, metabolism and routine. An average adult should drink 5 to 8 glasses of water a day. You can take a couple more glasses if you find the need. But make sure you drink at least 6 glasses.

Dermalmd Skin Lighter serum actually does what it says. After using this Lightening serum mask for a short while, I noticed huge results on my face. I had red splotchy acne marks that would not go away, and now my skin looks smoother and more even toned. Great product.

A nurse I know and who is an expert concerning the paleo diet, told me that it is better to drink a lot of water twice a day, than drinking little bits all day long. Prehistoric human beings did not carry bottles with them either.
