Just because we want matte skin doesn’t mean we want to nix all the moisture! Clinique’s Stay Matte Hydrator helps refine pores and control excess oil, all while keeping our skin hydrated and feeling fresh! With continued use, pores should be less noticeable and refined. Use this before you apply your makeup for a smooth, matte finish for hours! Find it at Sephora for $37.

4 Peter Thomas Roth Clini-Matte All Day Oil-Control SPF 20

Peter Thomas Roth makes a pretty nice skin mattifier with skin protecting broad spectrum SPF. This lightweight lotion promises to get rid of excess oil, reduce pore size and keep the skin shine-free for hours. It has a time-released system so the ingredients work all day. Use it regularly under makeup or on clean skin to enjoy more balanced and happy skin! Get yours at Sephora for $48.50.

5 Origins Zero Oil Instant Matte Finish

There are lots of primers that claim to keep skin matte, but not all work as well as this one! This primer got rave reviews from oily gals for locking in makeup, minimizing the appearance of pores and controlling shine all day! 7 Neutrogena Shine Control Powder with Rice Protein Complex

Another drugstore option for matte skin can be achieved by using Neutrogena’s Shine Control Powder. The line also has a shine control primer and foundation, however the powder seems to get the best reviews. I’ve used this powder myself and it works!. I love that it’s so affordable and it’s translucent. Use this to set foundation and for touch-ups throughout the day for fresh and shine-free skin!

I’ve tried so many skin mattifying products, so I know it can get frustrating when nothing seems to work.
