7 Things That Cause Localized Acne ...

If you suffer from acne in certain areas instead of all over, there are things that cause localized acne like that that you can eliminate to get rid of breakouts. Localized acne is that which only appears in a certain spot, such as your chin or forehead. Usually, there is something specific that is causing that acne to break out in just that location. Once you figure out the reason, it’s pretty easy to take steps to stop it. Here are some of the most common things that cause localized acne.

1

Cell Phones

One of the most common things that cause localized acne is your cell phone. You set that thing down in all sorts of places, which means it picks up dirt, germs and bacteria each time. When you place the phone next to your face to talk into it, some of that stuff transfers to your skin, which can clog pores and leave you with acne along your jawline. Swipe your phone with a disinfectant wipe every day to keep it clean.

2

Hair Products

If you get acne along your hairline, chances are it’s caused by the hair care products you’re using. You probably don’t have to worry about shampoo or conditioner, but things like hair gel, hair spray or mousse that soaks into your skin can cause acne. Prevent it by holding your hand there while you apply the product, then you can just rinse your hands and be done.

3

Your Pillowcase

You like to think that going to sleep wouldn’t be so full of potential acne triggers. However, your pillowcase is a big one, especially if you sleep on it without removing your make-up first. Be sure to always go to bed with a clean face and wash your pillowcase in hot water at least once a week to get rid of germs and bacteria that clog pores.

4

Touching Your Face

Do you push your behind your ears multiple times each day, or pat your skin when you’re thinking? Maybe you touch your face when you’re nervous. Anytime you put your hands on your face, you run the risk of any germs and bacteria on your hands being transferred to your face. If you’re getting acne in the places you touch regularly, you probably need to make a very hard effort to keep your hands away from your face. Or be sure you’re sudsing up with warm water and soap as often as you can to keep your hands clean.

5

Sweat

Do you sweat along your hair line or between your breasts? Sweat that sits on your skin can lead to acne, including that which crops up on places other than your face. Anytime you get hot and sweaty, it’s a good idea to take a shower as soon as possible to rinse it off your skin before it has a chance to clog your pores.

Improper Washing

You might not realize you’re missing a spot, but if you wash your face the same way each time, you might not be getting all of the places that are prone to acne. If you’re noticing breakouts only in certain spots, pay close attention to how you wash your face. You might see that you aren’t paying enough attention to those locations. Once you do a better job of washing there, you will probably notice that the acne clears up soon after.

7

Hormones

Fluctuating hormones are a big cause of acne, and can sometimes cause breakouts only in certain spots. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot you can do about this and the problem persists into adulthood for many people. Your best bet is to talk to your dermatologist about the problem so you can treat it once and for all.

Do you get localized acne? Where do you suffer from it? I hope you found the potential cause on this list.
