8 Ways to Prevent Bikini Line Bumps ...

With summer on the way, I sure could use some good ways to prevent bikini line bumps! I absolutely hate having to battle with bikini bumps! It's like this horrible, unsightly curse that happens and always right at bikini-season too! But I did a little research and came up with several ways to prevent these painful bumps. They work so well for me, I had to share them! I know you will love these tips too. So if you have hard-to-manage bikini lines all summer, keep on reading because this article is just for you! You will know 8 great ways to prevent bikini line bumps after reading my article!

1. Don't Shave before Swimming

Shaving before a dip is an open invitation to possible infection that will cause bikini bumps! When you shave, you can cause microscopic cuts which bacteria from the water can infect thus creating bikini bumps. Your best bet is to shave the day before! If you didn't plan ahead, be sure and use a moisturizing shave cream and a fresh blade to prevent nicks.

2. Use THIS to Soothe

If you go to have bikini wax at a salon, they use calming, cooling toners on the area afterwards which is one way to prevent bikini line bumps. But you don't need to go to a salon to get that treatment! Do it yourself at home for way cheaper! All you need is six roses, a bowl and boiling hot water. Break the petals off the roses, put them into the bowl and pour the water on top. Cover them and let them steep for half an hour. Remove the petals, refrigerate the liquid and apply to your freshly shaven bikini line with a cotton ball!

3. Use Hydrocortisone Cream

Using hydrocortisone cream on your bikini line is a great way to prevent bikini line bumps. Hydrocortisone cream is soothing and will ease the redness. It will also help to treat bikini bumps you may already have! It's definitely a good idea to keep a tube in your bathroom!

4. Change Your Blade Often

A dull blade is usually the number one culprit for bikini line bumps. Ideally, you should replace the blade every 4-5 shaves. That's usually once every week for most of us! Shaving blades can get expensive, but this is one price we are willing to pay, right ladies? If you still can't reconcile yourself to paying for blades that often, don't go with cheapies to save money! Instead, opt for waxing, which will last 6-8 weeks.

5. Use Moisturizing Shave Cream

Simply by using a moisturizing shave cream, you can reduce your chances of getting bikini line bumps by half! Dermatologists advise us to lather on a moisturizing shave gel 3 minutes before you start shaving. This gives your skin a chance to soak in all the good moisturizing benefits and it also softens the hairs you're about to shave off. Another good option is to use hair conditioner, which softens like nobody's business!

6. Apply Lotion

My absolute favorite way to prevent bikini line bumps of all time is to apply lotion after you shave. But not just any lotion! I've found that Burt's Bees Soothingly Sensitive Aloe and Buttermilk Body lotion is the very best lotion to apply on your bikini zone! It works better than any other product I've ever tried that claims to "reduce" or "prevent" bumps. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

7. Exfoliate First

By exfoliating your skin prior to a shave, you are able to get rid of dead skin cells that may trap hairs, causing ingrown hairs and unsightly bikini bumps! Besides, exfoliation preps and softens the skin, allowing for a smoother, closer shave. You can use any sort of scrub that you have on hand, just remember that your bikini line is tender so don't scrub too hard or use a really grainy scrub that could cause irritation! I love natural scrubs, they smell so good!!

8. Brew Some Black Tea

Black tea? Yes! Black tea is an anti-inflammatory. Brew yourself up a cup and store it in the fridge until chilled. Then use a cotton ball to apply it to your bikini line. This is a great natural and inexpensive way to prevent bikini line bumps!

These ways to prevent bikini line bumps have worked for me and I know they will work for you too! Just give them a shot! You will be so glad you did! Do you have any great tips for preventing bikini line bumps? Please comment below and let us know!
