Soak up Oil

When you’re feeling hot and just plain yucky, you want to feel fresher from head to toe. So before we start in on the ways to freshen up your skin, let’s start with hair. If you don’t already own a dry shampoo, now is the time! Not only will it help soak up excess oil, your hair will smell better, too. If you’re at a gym and you have access to a blow dryer, blast your hairline to get rid of excess sweat and moisture. If you’re out and about, use a tissue to blot your hairline. Next, spritz some dry shampoo on your roots and brush it out. If you don’t have a brush, use your fingers. Dry shampoo works best when hair is dry, but when you’re looking to get fresh quick, get it as dry as possible then go for it.

2

Style It

So your hair feels a little cleaner but if you want to look a little more put together, throw your hair up in a messy bun, ponytail or side braid. Maybe it’s just me, but whenever I get sweaty during the day I feel as though I stay fresher and I can better conceal oily or sweaty hair when it’s done up and away from my face. Do you have a go-to hairstyle when your hair is all hot and bothered?

3

Wipe It off

The best way to freshen up skin after you’ve been hustling around is to wipe up oil and sweat with a facial cleansing wipe. However, if you’re like me and wear a full face of makeup, a facial wipe isn’t going to do. The next best thing would be to wipe off any sweat on your face and blot your face with blotting sheets or a toilet seat cover in a pinch. The last thing you want to do is to try to cover it all up with powder; it’ll look cakey or chalky. For the days you know you’ll be working out or running around on a hot day, wear some primer and swap your normal foundation with a tinted moisturizer which is much lighter.

4

Get Rid of the Red

If your face gets red after a workout or even when you’re just overheated, you can easily calm the redness by splashing some cold water on your face. Or if you wearing makeup, place something cold like your iced tea on your cheeks and forehead to not only cool you down but to help constrict blood vessels to tone down the redness in your skin.

5

Clean That Bod

Now comes the most important part of freshening your skin, refreshing your body. In the past, we pretty much only had baby wipes to clean ourselves up without a shower, but these days we have so many more options that helps us clean up, smell better and invigorate our skin. Playtex Sport Body Wipes, Acure Organics Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes for Face & Body or Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths are all great options to clean up and freshen up your skin in a snap.

Final Touches

After you’ve given yourself a good wipe down, reapply deodorant if you happen to have it. If you don’t, you might want to keep a travel-sized version around or try a deodorant towelette like Crystal Body Deodorant Towelette and keep a packet in your purse. They don’t take up much space, they’re easy to use and you never know when you’ll need to reapply deodorant on the go. If you decided to use a body wipe that has a fragrance that might be enough for you. If you want more, I would suggest a body spray since they feel nice going on and they’re not as heavy as a perfume.

Additional Items

Just in case you want to plan ahead, I have a couple more products that I thought I’d tell you about that might be useful for you. First, I had no idea such a thing existed but it turns out that there are facial antiperspirants. If you sweat excessively and want to reduce excess wetness and shine from your face, 3B FaceSaver Gel is one to try. I normally don’t like stopping my face or body from doing something natural like sweating, but if it’s a major problem for you, you might want to try it. Also, a facial mist is great to keep in your desk as it can help keep makeup stay intact as well as cool you down.

Those sweltering hot days are coming, if they haven’t already arrived in your area, so make sure you keep cool! Some other good ways to cool down and refresh yourself on a hot day are to cool off your wrists and neck with ice or cold water and use minty products. Believe it or not, minty gum, peppermints and minty lotion can all have a cooling effect on you. Do you have any tips on refreshing your skin without a shower?
