Who doesn’t love a good soak in the tub, and you know, you can make it even better and more beneficial with some DIY bath salt recipes. You don’t have to visit the spa or pay out for expensive toiletries for great results because DIY bath salt recipes are cheap and easy.
To make: Add 4-5 drops of peppermint oil and 4-5 drops of orange oil to 300g of salt crystals. Mix and put into a screw top jar. Leave in a cool place for 24 hours before using.
To use: Add ½ cup to running bath water.
To make: Mix together 2 cups of Epsom salts with 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Add 4 drops of essential rosemary oil. Mix well. (You can add a couple of drops of green food coloring if you like). Store in a screw top jar.
To use: Add to a hot bath.
To make: Mix together ½ cup of Epsom salts and 1½ cups of full-fat powdered milk. Add 2-3 drops of red food coloring and mix until it is a nice uniform pink color. Add ¼ – ½ cup rose petals and 5-8 drops of rose essential oil. Mix gently. Store in a lidded container – looks pretty in a bottle.
To use: Add to running bath water.
To make: Add 1 tablespoon dried lavender and 5 drops of essential lavender oil to 300g salt crystals. Mix well. Store in a screw top jar.
To use: add to a hot bath.
To make: in a large bowl, mix together 2 cups of Epsom salts and 1½ cups of baking soda. Then add 1 tablespoon of ground ginger and 15 drops of chamomile. Mix together. Store in a screw top jar.
To use: To get the most benefits from this your bath water needs to be as hot as you can stand it; the treatment needs you to be sweating for the best results. You also should refrain from eating for a good couple of hours before and after this bath. Drink 2 glasses of water before getting into the bath. When in the bath, sink as low as you can in the water and relax for at least 20 minutes. After this time you might well feel a little dizzy or light headed so take care when you get out of the tub. Drink more water to keep flushing out those toxins.
To make: Add 4-5 drops each of vanilla oil and ylang ylang oil to 300g of salt crystals. Mix and put into a screw top jar. Leave in a cool place for 24 hours before using. If you like, you can add a vanilla pod to the jar – slice it most of the way down the middle for the best effect.
To use: Add ½ cup to running bath water.
To make: Combine 3 cups of Epsom salts with 2 cups of sea salt and 1 cup of baking soda. At this point you can choose to color it if you like. Then add 10 drops of almond oil. Mix and store in a screw top jar.
To use: Add 1 tablespoon honey to ½ cup of the bath salts. Mix and add to running bath water.
