1. Antioxidants

Incorporating anti-aging diet foods into your life doesn’t have to be boring; there are a variety of foods we can eat that’ll help us look our best! Including antioxidants in our diet is an important anti-aging diet tip because they protect our bodies from free radicals that are known to damage healthy cells. Some foods that are high in antioxidants are small red beans, blueberries, prunes and cranberries.

2. Vitamin C

Foods that are high in vitamin C aren’t just for colds and immune support! Eating foods containing vitamin C are part of these diet tips because they help our bodies produce more collagen, which helps our skin stay resilient and youthful. Try including foods like chili peppers, guava, bell peppers and kale in your meals.

3. Avoid Sugar

I have a love/hate relationship with sugar. I love sweets but as far as anti-aging diet tips go, it’s public enemy number one! Eating large amounts of sugar has been known to increase inflammation in the body and even accelerate aging. Sugar also damages collagen, which can cause wrinkles, so stay away from sugar, white bread, pasta and white rice when you can!

4. Cut Back on Coffee

You might not like this next anti-aging diet tip, but I feel that’s it’s my responsibility to share it with you! Coffee has been known to contribute to the aging process. NYC dermatologist Deborah Wattenberg reports that alcohol and caffeine both act like a diuretic so it can make our skin look dry and wrinkly in the long run. If you just can’t do without your daily coffee, drink lots of water to rehydrate!

5. Eat Fat

Did you ever think you’d see the day where you’d see diet tips encouraging you to eat fat? Well, it’s good fat but it’s still just as tasty as the bad stuff! Salmon, flaxseeds, walnuts, cabbage and halibut are all foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to help protect our skin from sun damage and keep skin looking young and smooth!

6. Eat Enough

We’ve been talking about how eating certain foods will help us look and feel better but an equally important point is to eat enough food. Drastically cutting calories and fats can end up depriving our bodies from essential nutrients that we need. As a result,we can end with undesirable effects like hair loss, dry skin and brittle nails.

7. Vitamin E

Another important nutrient to include in your anti-aging diet regimen is vitamin E. Vitamin E is responsible for helping to keep skin healthy and clear and protect it from the effects of the environment. Using products containing vitamin E is helpful, but eating foods like sunflower seeds, almonds, green olives and cooked spinach can help nurture skin from within.

8. Get Some Balance

You’ve probably heard about alkaline and acidic foods and balancing out the pH in our bodies. The bottom line is that eating too many acidic foods can cause our bodies to become acidic, which has been attributed to making our skin to age faster and causing inflammation. Balance things out by eating alkaline foods like almonds, apples and pears to help clear up your complexion and keep it looking young!

These anti-aging foods and diet tips can help you achieve smoother, clearer and youthful looking skin. While our diet is important, we can’t forget the importance of getting enough sleep, drinking water and taking proper care of our skin. Do you eat any of these anti-aging foods?
