Unusual Facial Treatments You Won't Believe People Actually Pay for ...

People are willing to undergo some pretty strange treatments in the name of beauty! And the richer they are, the stranger the treatment. Celebrities are reputed to use facials containing all kinds of peculiar ingredients. Here are some of the unusual facial treatments that you won't believe people actually pay for …

1. Vampire Face-Lift

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Have you seen those horrendous pictures of Kim Kardashian? No, not those ones. The pictures of her with blood spattered all over her face. The Vampire Face Lift involves taking a sample of the patient's own blood, removing the plasma, and then injecting it back into the skin. I'll stick with a mud mask, thanks.

2. Snail Facial

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Slightly more palatable, but only just, is the Snail Facial. Snail slime is popping up in all kinds of beauty products, including anti-aging products. But you can also go straight to the source, so to speak, and have a Snail Facial. Yes, you have to lie there while a snail crawls over your face. And yes, it's not cheap at $250 a pop.

3. Triad Facial

(Your reaction) Thank you!

This three-part treatment is said to be a favorite of Angelina Jolie. It's not so much the treatment that’s the shocker here, but rather the price tag. This treatment is only for the A list, given that it costs around $15k per year. It's so exclusive that it's only available in New York. Is any facial worth spending the same amount as a nice apartment or a small car?

4. Placenta Facial

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Another of the gross things you can have slapped on your face in the name of beauty is the Placenta Facial. Given that it uses sheep placentas it's probably not one for supporters of animal rights. Quite a few celebs are reputed to have the Placenta Facial - at around $300 per session they're probably the only people who can afford it on a regular basis!

5. Diamond & Ruby Facial

(Your reaction) Thank you!

I don't know about you, girls, but I'd rather wear diamonds on my fingers than have them crushed up and smeared on my face (and then rinsed off). But you can have a super-luxurious facial of crushed diamonds and rubies - a snip at a mere $7k (not). Mila Kunis is supposed to enjoy this gemstone facial - as if she needs it!

6. Nightingale Poop

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Someone, somewhere, is laughing themselves silly at what they can get women to smear on their face, and pay handsomely for the privilege. Although nightingale poop isn't a new beauty treatment - it has been used since the 18th century in Japan - it's now reached the West. Sadly, any old bird poop won't do; it has to be the very special poop imported from Japan.

7. Snake Venom Moisturiser

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If you want to freeze those frown lines, but don't fancy having Botox, you can go for the slightly more palatable alternative of creams containing snake venom. You'll be parting with a lot of cash for a small amount of gloop, but at least you won't have to put up with having needles jabbed in your face …

Even if I had the money, I wouldn't fancy having any of these treatments! They just sound too weird, and I'm not sure they'd work. Sun cream, water, and a healthy diet is all you need to look after your skin. What's the strangest beauty treatment you've heard of?
