7 Super-gentle Cleansers to Comfort Sensitive Skin ...

By Paula

If you suffer from sensitive skin or have a skin condition such as rosacea or eczema, you'll know how hard it can be to find gentle cleansers that don't leave you red faced and itchy - I have this problem too! The good news is that whilst different cleansers work for different people, there are a few gentle cleansers specifically designed for the most sensitive skin - here are my top 7!

1

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser

Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser This comforting liquid cleanser is one of the most gentle cleansers around; it's my skin's saving grace! The formula is very liquid, like a liquid gel consistency and it's a tissue off cleanser, so no rinsing is required. I don't use this every day, but it helps to calm my skin when it's irritated, red and itchy. A must-have for your skincare routine; soothing and cooling!

2

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Now, a lot of people who have posted reviews of this cult cleanser have experienced irritation, but I have to say it's done wonders for my Rosacea-prone skin. With eucalyptus, shea butter and other natural ingredients, it will leave skin soft when you remove (gently, don't rub!) with the included muslin cloth. Use cotton wool and warm water if your skin is particularly sensitive.

3

Simple Kind to Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion

Simple Kind to Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion I've actually just used this a few moments ago - it's my go-to morning cleanser and leaves skin feeling fresh and soothed. With no artificial fragrances or additives, I love the whole Simple skincare range, but this is my favorite cream cleanser.

4

Garnier Clean and Soft Complete Cleansing Milk

Garnier Clean and Soft Complete Cleansing Milk This creamy cleanser with rose extract is the only one of the Garnier range that I love - I use it occasionally as I find it can make me break out if used every day. It never irritates my skin though and always leaves it (as the name suggests!) feeling clean, soft and cared for. It is fragranced though, so if you're sensitive to fragrance, avoid this one.

5

Simple Kind to Skin Refreshing Gel Wash

I tend to stick to cream or liquid cleansers, but every so often I like to use a face wash - this is the one I turn to! Because it's made by Simple, it doesn't contain nasty fragrances or additives to irritate your skin and the refreshing, cooling texture feels great during the summer months; it leaves skin feeling fresh and super-clean! Just make sure to rinse with lukewarm water if you suffer from redness or irritation.

Aveeno Ultra-calming Foaming Cleanser

Aveeno Ultra-calming Foaming Cleanser This is another of my favorite face washes; in fact, I love the whole Aveeno ultra-calming range! The natural feverfew extract reduces redness and calms skin, so it's a must-have product if your skin gets blotchy, red and irritated (like mine often does during the summer months). I tend to use this in place of my Simple facial wash when I want to cleanse using water rather than a tissue-off cleanser.

7

The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser

The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser This is a really soothing, creamy cleanser with vitamin E, which always helps to reduce redness on my cheeks and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant too, which means it helps protect skin from aging and leaves it looking and feeling younger - good news for anyone, not just those with sensitive skin! I love the Bodyshop's Vitamin E range - their facial oil is also lovely.

So if you're suffering from sensitive skin and are looking for a cleanser which won't irritate, hopefully you'll enjoy using one of my top 7. What is your favorite sensitive skin cleanser - I would love to hear other experiences with leading brands, as these are just a few of the cleansers which have worked for me; so please share with me!

I've been using la roche- posay's toleriane line: I use both the dermo- cleanser which is like a milk/gel, and the foaming cleanser which is cleansing and mild; they're both very good and have very few ingredients so no worries about anything bothering your skin like propylene glycol or mineral oil
