1. Get Hot

Some women have reported success in getting rid of cellulite by getting a heated massage. If it works, marvelous… and even if it doesn’t get rid of cellulite, you still got a relaxing heated massage. Silver lining!

2. Try a Retinol Cream

Some studies have shown that women who regularly used a 0.3% retinol cream saw a decrease in the appearance of their cellulite. Since retinol has also been shown to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and get rid of acne, perhaps retinol is some kind of miracle, yes?

3. Avoid Yo-yo Dieting

Yo-yo dieting is, aside from genetics and pregnancy, one of the most common ways to get cellulite, so if you get slim and stay that way, you’ll decrease your chances of getting cellulite to start with.

4. Kick the Carbs

Anyone who’s ever dieted can tell you that carbs add calories, and not the best kinds of calories, either. Add to that the fact that a diet high in carbs can also cause cellulite, and you’ll do your best to avoid them… but don’t try and cut the carbs altogether! You need some, but not an entire day’s worth of calories at one go.

5. Exercise

Part of staying slim is staying fit, and if you stay fit by exercising regularly, you’ll avoid getting cellulite. It’s not a guarantee, of course, but it certainly helps keep skin firm and smooth.

6. Keep Hydrated

Did you know long-term chronic dehydration can cause cellulite? That’s just one more reason to drink your 64 ounces of water each day.

7. Try a Caffeine Cream

No-one’s entirely certain how or why it works, but creams that contain caffeine seem to decrease the appearance and severity of cellulite.

8. Get a Lipomassage

What exactly is a lipomassage? It’s a massage that includes a slight suction sensation, and while lipomassage is a little pricey, it seems to be effective at getting rid of cellulite, for the duration of the treatments. In other words, once the regular treatments stop, the cellulite will come back.

9. Go Mummy-rific!

My friend Seoung swears by seaweed wraps to get rid of cellulite! You can get a “slimming wrap” at most day spas, and they’re very reasonably priced, too. Why not try one?

10. Use a Self-tanner…

For some reason, tanned skin is better at camouflaging cellulite than pale skin. This isn’t an excuse to spend an hour in the tanning bed every day… that’s horrible for your skin! But you can try to mask cellulite with a self-tanner. It works!

Obviously, the best way to get rid of cellulite is to try not to get it in the first place, so exercise and a healthy diet are key… as well as just plain good genetics. But now that you’ve read my list of ways to get rid of cellulite, do you have hope? Or at least a little skirt you can wear over your swimsuit as camouflage? Or have you given up hope and embraced your slightly lumpy but still gorgeous legs and bootie? Do tell!
