7 Ways to Keep Your Skin Clear in the Heat ...

It's hard to keep your skin blemish free once summer hits. It's not just the temperatures or the humidity, it's largely due to the fact that you sweat more when the weather is hot, and that sweat can clog your pores with tons of debris. I don't know about you, but I'm out so much in the summertime, I want to know that my skin looks good even when I don't have time to slather on the makeup. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your skin clear in the heat, so you'll have a gorgeous complexion from June 'til August.

1

Try Peroxide

This probably sounds weird, but one great way to keep your skin clear in the heat is to use hydrogen peroxide. The key is, you're going to be using it like it's a toner. The reason it's so helpful is because peroxide kills all of the bacteria that inevitably leads to breakouts. Unlike alcohol, it won't make your skin dry. It's best to use after you've been sweating a lot.

2

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

It's extremely important to wash your skin when it's hot. However, you can't wash it too much, because that will lead to dry outs. It's best to wash your skin no more than twice a day, especially if you wear makeup. You can do it at the end of the day. Wash once to get through the makeup, and again to get all the oil.

3

Exfoliation Extravaganza

The best way to keep your skin clear in the heat is to exfoliate. This is so important. Everyone knows it, but few of us rarely do it regularly. You need to exfoliate, however, to get rid of all those icky, dead skin cells. They block your pores, which will lead to breakouts. You don't have to exfoliate every day, though. Do it between one and three times each week, and you'll be fine.

4

Drink up

Drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin clear all year round, but it's especially important in the summer. If you don't stay hydrated, your skin will suffer for it, along with the rest of your body. The daily recommended amount of water, however, will keep your skin soft, firm, and blemish free!

5

Eat Right

It's also important to eat the right foods – and stay away from the wrong ones. The right foods are, of course, fruits and vegetables. Look especially for fruits with plenty of antioxidants, because they're good for your skin and your overall health. You should focus on foods that are astringent, sweet, and even bitter. However, you should avoid foods that have a lot of spices, a lot of salt, or taste too sour.

Choose the Right Sunscreen

You might not think that lathering on sunscreen is a great way to keep your skin clear in the heat, but it is. You just have to look for the right sunscreen. Don't choose anything that comes on too greasy or oily. Don't worry, though; there are plenty of sunscreens that protect your skin from both UV rays and blemishes.

7

Get Your Zs

I know it's summer, and the best time for staying up late and sleeping in – and in fact, if you stay up late, do try to still get plenty of sleep. Getting enough rest is a key to keeping your skin young and healthy, but it will also keep it clear. Plus, you don't run the risk going around with matching Louis Vuitton bags under your eyes.

From fruit masks to retail skincare products, there are tons of other ways to keep your skin clear in the heat. You can also avoid the sun altogether, when it's at its highest point, but then, it's hard to do that every day when you're celebrating the big vacation. Do you have any other summer skincare tips?
