7 Ways to Get Rid of Shiny Skin ...

By Eliza

Shiny skin is a problem that really heats up in the summertime. A lovely glow is great, but when your skin produces too much oil, it can leave you looking shiny and greasy, a combination that I hate to see in the mirror. You don’t have to suffer though. Instead of facing humiliation, try out some different techniques to control the shine so you can face the world, embarrassment-free. I plan to give them all a try and I think you should too. Here are the best ones!

1

Carry a Package of Blotting Papers Everywhere You Go

These handy little papers soak up excess oil without ruining your make-up. All you have to do is press one to the shiny spots and you’re done. Blotting papers come in packages that are small and easy to carry around so tossing one in your bag is a decision you’ll never regret. Shiny skin will never be a problem again!

2

Make a Homemade Milk Mask and Let It Soak in for 15 Minutes

Homemade skincare is one of my favorite things! Experts say that milk can help combat oily skin, leaving you looking less shiny. Simply soak a cloth in milk, lay it over your face, leaving a spot to breathe, and let it sit there for 15 minutes before removing and rinsing with warm water. Do this often enough and shiny skin will be a thing of the past.

3

Quit Washing Your Face Multiple Times Each Day

It might not make a lot of sense, but overwashing makes oily skin worse. Weird, I know, but the experts know what they’re talking about. Wash once a day and your skin will be much healthier, which is one easy way to control the shine. Instead of washing when things get slick, try the blotting papers instead and only wash at bedtime. You might be surprised at what a positive difference you see.

4

Wear a Full Teaspoon of Sunscreen on Your Face Daily

Sunscreen is certainly important for preventing burns, skin cancer and the signs of aging. But it turns out that it can also control shine. Sunscreens that contain oil-absorbing micronized zinc or titanium dioxide and denatured alcohol can help you get that matte finish you crave on your face. Slather it on in place of moisturizer and before you put on your make-up, suggest the skincare experts.

5

Wear Less Make-up for a Shine Free Natural Look

I don’t like to leave the house without my make-up, but it might be a good idea to wear less of it. Why? Because certain cosmetics clog pores, increasing oil production, especially in the summertime. Choose lightweight foundation or skip it altogether if you are prone to shiny skin. Try mineral powder products, which work to soak up some of the oil and shine.

Famous Quotes

Love is like a friendship caught on fire. In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable.

Exfoliate Once a Week Followed by a Facial Mask

Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from your pores, helping keep them clean and oil free. A clay mask decreases oil production as well. Use both together and you get a good jump start on decreasing shine without having to worry about it every second of the day. Do this once a week and you’re golden!

7

Stop Eating so Much Spicy Food

Mexican food is my favorite and I’m never happier than when I’m eating chips and salsa and a green chile smothered burrito. However, spicy foods dilate your blood vessels, which makes you sweat. In turn, you get shiny and oily. You don’t have to give up your favorites, but try having a milder version and limiting the tongue burning ones to once a week.

Do you get shiny in the summer? How do you deal with it?
