1

Glycolic Acid

Glycolic acid is something that is used in a lot of home skin peel recipes, but if you are someone who has darker skin, then it can be a rather unpredictable chemical to use. Instead, always opt for the more gentle alternative of salicylic acid.

2

Soap

Do not wash your face with the same kind of bar soap that you might wash your hands with, it is much too dehydrating. It will strip your pores of all their moisture and whilst it does remove excess oils, it will also take the essential natural ones with it.

3

Lemon or Lime

Citrus is good for your insides, but not your face. If you put citrus juice on your face and then go out in to the sun, you run the risk of getting a chemical burn called phytophotodermatitis.

4

Coconut Oil

This is a tip for those of you with naturally over oily skin. It might smell and feel great, but the worst thing you can do is apply coconut oil that will add a whole other level of oiliness to your face.

5

DIY Exfoliating Masks

I recommend going for shop bought exfoliating masks and products instead of making your own, because you run the risk of making the components too large and they can actually result in micro-lacerations on your skin.

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Confucius
6

Expired Sunscreen

The protective quality of sunscreen that is passed its use by date is significantly decreased, it won’t be able to keep your skin from the harm of the sun.

7

Body Lotion

Don’t put lotion that is designed for your body on your face, because it is usually a much harsher chemical make up than your delicate face skin would like. They are usually thicker and oilier and will be more prone to causing acne and breakouts.

8

Home Waxes

Please please please don’t wax your own face! If you need some help with upper lip hair or thick eyebrows, then go to a professional who is trained in doing it so that it doesn’t damage the skin underneath the hair!

9

Hairspray

Try to cover your face when spraying your hair with product. The high levels of alcohol in most sprays can have an irritating effect.

10

Hydrogen Peroxide

You should only dab hydrogen peroxide on a cut face immediately after the injury occurs, not again and again during the healing process. Prolonged use of it can actually slow down the healing process.
