1

Get a Humidifier

Get a Humidifier First and foremost, when you’re talking about skin care tips for dry climates you must get a humidifier! You can get a large one that’ll cover more than one room or just use it when you sleep at night. Humidifiers can help with dry skin, eyes and keep the mucous membranes moist. They’re also said to help reduce the intensity of snoring and help babies sleep better!

2

Stock up on Lotion

Stock up on Lotion We all know that lotion is a must-have for dry skin. But, even if you have normal skin, you’ll want to make sure your skin is properly moisturized if you’re living in a dry climate. The signs of dry skin might not be obvious at first but if your skin isn’t used to dry air, your heels can crack, elbows can become dry and cuticles can get quite raggedy!

3

Don’t Forget Lip Balm!

Don’t Forget Lip Balm! Lip balm is another handy product to keep on hand. When you’re living in a dry climate, you’ll notice that your lips will feel drier and maybe a little more sensitive. Treat your kisser to a moisturizing and nourishing lip balm that contains SPF so you’re protected from the elements and helps you look and feel better! Baby Lips by Maybelline and Burt’s Bees are great brands to try!

4

Drink Water

Drink Water Getting your fill of water is not only important for skin care, but it’s also essential for your health and well-being! When you’re in a drier area, it’s important to up your intake of fluids as your body tends to lose more water and you can get dehydrated. Try to avoid drinking too many caffeinated drinks or alcohol since it can speed up dehydration!

5

Consider Switching Products

Consider Switching Products If you’re going to be living in a dry climate, it would be wise to invest in some different skin care products that are more appropriate for your current location. You probably won’t have to give your skin care regimen a total overhaul, just switch a few products like facial cleanser and moisturizer. Clinique makes an excellent facial moisturizer for dry skin called Moisture Surge Intense. It’s highly rated for being absorbed quickly while leaving the skin soft and supple!

Cover up

Cover up Another good option you can try if you’re trying to keep your hands and feet in tip top shape is to wear gloves and socks to bed. I know it can be hard to do this if it’s still hot at night, but your skin will surely thank you. Slather on some thick lotion to your hands and feet and wear cotton gloves and socks and you’ll wake up to soft, smooth skin. Do it often to maintain your baby soft skin.

7

Deep Condition

Deep Condition Don’t forget to update your hair care products. Drier air means your hair might get dry, also. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and don’t forget to deep condition. Also, always use heat protectants on hair before you use any styling tools to create a barrier between your hair and the heat tool.

8

Sunscreen

Sunscreen Sunscreen is essential no matter where you live. But, if you’re living in a dry climate, maybe even the desert, you have to slather that stuff on! Remember that you need to protect your skin all year long and not just in the spring and summer. Don’t forget to throw on some chic sunnies to shield your delicate eye area, also. The sun is one of the largest contributors of skin damage so it makes perfect sense to protect yourself.

Saline Spray

Saline Spray Many people’s noses get dried out as a result of being in a drier area which can be painful and bothersome. Using a humidifier can help, but you can also consider using a saline spray. Saline sprays will moisturize and thin secretions from your nasal passages. You can get one at your local drugstore or according to the University of Michigan Health System, make your own by combining 1/4 tsp. of salt and 1/4 tsp. of baking soda into 8 oz. of warm water.

Living in a dry climate can have drawbacks, but once you know how to work with it, it’s not so bad! There are pros and cons to dry and humid climates so don’t feel like you’re in it alone. There are lots of people who have gone through the same situation as you and they’re doing just great. Do you have any tips for living in a dry climate that you want to share?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Saline spray is not hydrating....it's salt water and salt is drying not moisturizing. Saline spray is just like Chapstick the more you use it the more you need it bc it doesn't allow your body to moisturize itself naturally. Water is your best friend in dry climates!
