1

Double Cleanse Your Skin

First things first, you absolutely have to remove every little bit of make up off your face at the end of the day. I would suggest using an oil-based cleanser, which will remove even the most long lasting waterproof products and at the same time cleanse your pores. However that is not it for cleansing, to ensure that you get rid of all the gunk and dirt collected during the day go in for a second cleanse with a gentle foam cleanser. This will leave prevent formation of new acne and leave your skin feeling fresh!

2

Don’t Forget to Moisturize

Some people decide to skip the moisturizer before bed to give their skin some time to “breathe”, but your body easily loses moisture through respiration, perspiration and urination especially when it is bare, so your skin always needs hydration! So if you want radiant skin the next morning, remember to generously slather on some moisturizer the day before!

3

Exfoliate a Few Times a Week

When you find the time during the week, make sure to exfoliate your skin and get rid of dead skin cells. This will help your skin regenerate itself during the night and leave it smooth to the touch. Make sure to use gentle exfoliators that won’t be too rough on your skin but will still do a great job with rejuvenating it.

4

Hydrate Your Body and Your Skin

Hydration is really important when it comes to your skin, so try to drink enough water throughout the day and even a little bit before bed. Getting enough H2O into your body can potentially clear out your current breakouts and prevent others from occurring!

5

Don’t Sleep Next to Your Phone

Now that you’ve cleansed and moisturized the skin, you want to avoid doing anything counterproductive right before you go to bed. And since your phone collects plenty of bacteria and germs throughout the day, it is best that you set it aside and away from your face!

Switch Your Pillowcases Frequently

However your phone might not be the only source of bacteria, as your pillowcases can collect plenty of its own over time. This is why it is important to switch them out frequently, you want to prevent your skin from interacting with anything questionably dirty during the night. Also you might even want to switch to silk pillowcases as they prevent tugging on your skin.

7

Go to Bed Early

Surprisingly you might be breaking out because you are not getting enough sleep on a daily basis. You are not giving your skin enough time to recover and recuperate, and this might be causing the breakouts. So go to sleep early and get enough of your beauty sleep!

These are just a few skincare tips to follow at bedtime, what are yours?

Too much work.

Thanks for this article, great post n very helpful! :)

Chemical peels every now and then are helpful as well. They get down to the dermis of the skin to produce a healthier complexion and minimize breakouts. I have gotten 3 and they have improved my skin dramatically.

I got a Clarisonic cleansing brush for my face, I use it once a day and it is amazing. They are a bit pricey but definitely worth it!

Wonderful tips I also like to add extra hydration to my skin by sipping on water right before bedtime

Yes enough sleep is what I need to get

Been there done that, acne is individual and its causes, person specific. While these are good tips, and it's important to follow good hygiene (basically which this article is

I would highly recommend a clarisonic. They're so great. I use mine twice a day & my skin has improved so so much. But they are expensive.

I'm in my 40s and have the face of a 20yr old. I use baby wipes to clean my face, use a shower exfoliating glove to exfoliate my face and neck 3-4 times a week and use cocoa butter for moisturiser. I also rarely get any spots or blackheads

Oops! Basically what this article is saying) sometimes no matter what you do, you're going to suffer breakouts. Personally I've tried almost everything to hinder breaking out, good hygiene, proper diet, the pillowcase thing but nothing DIY helped, I was tired of breaking out especially in my 40's and I went to my Dr and she gave me a prescription, knock on wood, no more breakouts. These are just tips, advice, from my experience sometimes your Drs your best option...like Cathleen, 40 something is a just a number, luckily I've been diligent in my skin care, have decent genes cause I've been told too many times that I don't look my age, it's nice to hear that I look 30, and that younger ladies ask me what I do to my skin....just saying!
